Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced VP Bank Area Manager for a direct hire opportunity in San Jose, CA. This executive-level banking leadership role oversees multiple retail branch locations, including Menlo Park, San Jose West, San Jose Downtown, Fremont, Milpitas, and Los Altos.
The VP Bank Area Manager will provide strategic oversight, coaching, operational guidance, sales leadership, and performance management for Branch Managers across the assigned region. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned banking professional who enjoys developing leaders, improving branch performance, driving deposit growth, strengthening compliance, and supporting community-focused banking initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support Branch Managers across assigned retail banking locations to drive consistent sales, service, operational, and compliance performance.
- Conduct regular branch visits, one-on-one meetings, and regional meetings to review performance, identify needs, and implement action plans.
- Partner with senior sales and operations leaders to improve branch productivity, customer experience, new account growth, cash management services, and deposit generation.
- Monitor branch audits, certifications, callbacks, operational losses, fee waivers, staffing needs, and other activities that impact efficiency, profitability, and regulatory compliance.
- Support recruiting, training, employee development, performance counseling, incentive review, and cross-training initiatives across assigned branches.
- Engage with Branch Managers on community development activities and support CRA volunteer initiatives within the communities served.
Compensation and Benefits
- Salary range: $125,000 to $160,000 per year.

Required Qualifications and Skills
- Oversee multiple retail branch locations and provide direct leadership to Branch Managers.
- Drive branch sales performance, deposit growth, customer service results, and business development initiatives.
- Ensure operational consistency, audit readiness, policy adherence, and compliance with applicable banking regulations.
- Develop action plans using performance dashboards, branch trends, mystery shop results, audit findings, and operational metrics.
- Bachelor’s degree in Banking, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent directly related work experience.
- Minimum 8 years of progressive branch operations and/or sales management experience in financial services or banking.
- Minimum 5 years of management or supervisory experience.
- Strong knowledge of retail banking operations, branch policies, banking products, sales practices, marketing, financial management, and applicable regulations.
- Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, SharePoint, PowerPoint, and banking software applications.
- Excellent presentation, written communication, verbal communication, coaching, and relationship management skills.
- Strong organizational, time management, prioritization, problem-solving, decision-making, critical thinking, and strategic planning abilities.
- Proven ability to analyze trends, improve processes, identify performance gaps, and develop effective solutions.
- Strong business acumen with the ability to align branch activities with organizational priorities and goals.
- Ability to lead through others, build positive professional relationships, collaborate with diverse teams, and maintain a professional executive presence.
- Flexibility to travel regionally between assigned branch locations.
Qualifications
- Prior experience managing multiple retail banking branches or a regional branch network.
- Experience partnering with senior leadership on sales strategy, branch performance improvement, and market growth initiatives.
- Background in business banking, cash management services, deposit growth, outbound calling, community banking, or local business development.
- Experience supporting CRA volunteer activities, community events, or branch-level community development programs.
