Job Description

Role Description

We are looking for a passionate and skilled storyteller to join our team. In this role, you will act as a human interest journalist embedded within the LaunchX community — telling the stories of Launchies, alumni, instructors, mentors, speakers, and team members. Your work will capture what makes LaunchX special: the people, the growth, and the entrepreneurial spirit that drives everything we do.

Time Commitment: This is a full-time role during the summer. Based on performance, there is potential to continue part-time during the school year. The role can be performed remotely.

  • Interview Launchies, alumni, instructors, mentors, speakers, and team members to surface compelling human interest stories
  • Write long-form and short-form content — including profiles, essays, blog posts, and social media copy — that brings the LaunchX community to life
  • Collaborate with the marketing team to identify and prioritize stories that support LaunchX's mission and brand
  • Capture stories across multiple formats, including written, photo captions, and short video scripts
  • Build and maintain a story pipeline, tracking sources and ideas throughout the summer and beyond
  • Archive stories for future use across website, email, social media, and fundraising materials

Qualifications

  • Strong writing skills with a proven ability to tell compelling human interest stories
  • Experience conducting interviews and synthesizing them into polished, publish-ready content
  • Journalism, communications, or related experience (coursework, internships, or portfolio work accepted)
  • Genuine curiosity about people and what drives them
  • Ability to work independently and manage a story pipeline with minimal oversight
  • Enthusiasm for entrepreneurship, youth development, or education
  • Experience with social media content creation is a plus
  • Must successfully pass a background check

Compensation

This is an entry-level paid position with a compensation of $15 USD per hour or the local minimum wage, whichever is higher.
