Overview

Senior Origination Economist sought on behalf of an international economic consulting firm in New York.

The firm is looking for a Senior Origination Economist to assume responsibility for client relationships in the U S and Canada, and to drive new consulting mandates from law firms and regulators.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of both financial markets and competition economics, along with strong relationship building and communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

• Maintain and expand the network of the firm’s client relationships in the US and Canada including: law firms, litigation funders , barrister chambers, competition authorities and enforcement agencies.
• Originate new consulting mandates for the firm, working closely with the internal business development team to produce pitches for clients.
• Proactively manage and develop client relationships, identifying and escalating client needs, risks and new business opportunities.
• Represent the firm in the discussions with for such discussions with litigation funders and be the main point of contact
• Coordinate information and follow -ups between internal teams and external counsel team.
• Schedule and attend client events (seminar, conferences, etc) to raise the profile of the firm.
• Represent the firm through selected conferences/public speaking engagements, white papers contributions, op-eds etc.
• Work closely with the firm’s public relations firm to manage international marketing and, measure and monitor success.
• Manage the marketing and communications team.
• Manage the Client Relationship team including origination international offices.

Skills, Knowledge & Experience

• Proven experience in an economic consultancy, in a sector regulator, or at a ratings agency.
• Strong academics in economics and/or financial markets.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, energy and a genuine interest in people and relationships.
• Strong emotional intelligence and the ability to adapt communication styles.
• Client focused, has a marketing mindset.
• An appetite for networking and connecting people and problems.
• Experience of dealing directly with clients (such as law firms and/or regulators).
• The ability to communicate effectively on complex issues in simple terms.
• A high level of integrity with a creative and curious mind.
• An interest in coaching, developing and collaborating with others.
