Our Ravenswood program focuses on supporting families experience who are overcoming trauma, adversity, and cultural stressors.
This position is an ideal fit for a candidate who is passionate about providing community-based mental health/wellness services to historically underresourced communities. This position is a strong match for someone who desires to incorporate social justice and prevention work into the delivery of wellness services. The individual has experience and the ability to collaborate effectively with mental health professionals in service of their coaching responsibilities. In addition, a successful candidate is passionate about providing services to populations that are primarily bilingual and bicultural.
The Parent Wellness Coach plays a critical role in supporting the connection between families, schools, and the community. This position is responsible for communication that empowers caregivers, improves family engagement, and supports positive student outcomes.
The Parent Wellness Coach partners closely with parents, school staff, and community providers to ensure families feel supported, informed, and connected. Through coaching, program delivery and relationship building, the coach helps parents navigate challenges related to their child’s education, health, and overall family wellbeing.
This role requires a self - starter who is self-motivated and thrives working in evolving environments and serving as a trusted bridge between school systems and families.
This is a Fixed Term – 4-year contract.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individual (1:1) and group - based wellness coaching to parents and caregivers using a strength - based, culturally responsive approach.
Co c r eate individualized Parent Growth Plans aligned with family goals and student learning plans , inclusive of parent strategies appropriate at different stages of child development .
Support parents in navigating challenges related to education, mental health, housing, employment, childcare, healthcare, and family stability.
Respond to family crises with empathy and appropriate resource connection, helping mitigate impact year-round .
Serve as a key liaison between families, schools and community resources , fostering strong, trusting relationships with parents, educators, and school staff.
Collaborate with teachers, administrators, clinicians, and other stakeholders to support family engagement and student success.
Help align parent goals with student academic, social emotional, and behavioral goals.
Recruit parents and families into programming through school partnerships, community outreach, presentations, and relationship building.
Develop and maintain strong partnerships with community organizations and service providers.
Connect families to appropriate internal and external resources.
Maintain thorough, timely , and organized documentation of coaching sessions, outreach efforts, and participant progress.
Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings and collaborate across departments to ensure coordinated care.
Provide regular feedback to leadership regarding parent needs, program strengths, and opportunities for improvement.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Education & Qualifications:
Required:
High School Diploma
Bilingual in English and Spanish
Minimum of 3 years of direct service experience supporting parents and families who have experienced trauma and/or crisis (e.g., housing instability, domestic violence, financial stress)
K nowledge of community-based resources available to families
Preferred
Bachelor’s degree
Certified Wellness Coach or similar coaching credential
Background in social work, public health, education, psychology, community development, or related fields
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
Strong relationship builder who establishes trust with parents, school staff, and community partners
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable facilitating groups and presenting publicly
Ability to coach and advocate in a compassionate, nonjudgmental, and strength-based manner
High level of cultural humility and ability to work with families from diverse backgrounds and lived experiences
Adaptable and collaborative team player. Flexible adapting to a changing program structure.
Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to balance coaching, documentation, and program development
Effective problem solver who remains calm and resourceful in moments of tension or crisis
Self-motivated , reflective, and eager to learn in dynamic environments
Amenable to working evenings and weekends based on family and programming needs
Strong alignment with the mission and values of Children’s Health Council
Physical & Special Requirements :
Ability to travel to school and community sites independently
Ability to sit, stand, and facilitate groups for extended periods
Ability to use standard office and virtual communication tools
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds
