Pay Rate: $24.61/hr W2

Hours: 1 to 5 hours per month - flexible schedule

Contract Duration: 1 year from start date

Projected Start: As soon as possible

About the Role:

SunSoft Online is seeking an Education Program Specialist to provide oversight and guidance for Special Education Services at the Arizona State Hospital (ASH) in Phoenix. This position reports to the Chief Compliance Officer and ensures special education programming meets all state and federal requirements under IDEA guidelines.

This is a part-time advisory role requiring 1 to 5 hours per month. The ideal candidate is available on an as-needed basis to provide guidance and expertise.

Key Responsibilities:

• Plan, develop, organize, implement and evaluate special education services programming for qualifying patients
  
• Review records for patients under age 22 who have not graduated high school and determine special education eligibility
  
• Conduct interviews and administer educational evaluations appropriate to each patient's needs
  
• Develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and curriculum for qualified patients in accordance with IDEA guidelines
  
• Implement individualized educational curriculum and programming
  
• Establish appropriate goals and objectives for each patient based on current educational functioning level
  
• Document educational evaluations, goals, objectives, and patient progress in health records per ASH policy
  
• Participate in treatment planning
  
• Provide support and education to teaching staff
  
• Maintain patient education records and Nueva Vista School District data in compliance with state and federal special education laws
  
• Complete required reporting for funding and management of special education services
  

Requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Valid Special Education Teaching Certification - must be submitted with resume
  
• Bachelor's degree minimum - Master's degree preferred
  
• Special education experience- IEP development required
  
• Knowledge of IDEA guidelines and Arizona Department of Education requirements
  
• Experience working with patients or students with disabilities
  
• Strong organizational, research, and written communication skills
  
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including PowerPoint
  
• Local to Phoenix AZ - must be available for occasional in-person visits to Arizona State Hospital
  

Preferred Qualifications:

• Teaching experience in special education setting
  
• Record keeping and compliance experience
  
• Experience in mental health or psychiatric hospital setting
