Job Description

Business Development Representative Chicago, IL Hybrid (2–3 days onsite) Reports to: Sales Development Manager Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000

ABOUT NEXTPOINT

Nextpoint builds transformative software and services for the legal industry — making eDiscovery, case management, and litigation prep simple, fluid, and affordable for law firms of all sizes. Our secure, cloud-based platform lets teams start document review in minutes, backed by powerful analytics, an intuitive interface, and best-in-class security at every point. We're problem solvers, simplifiers, and challenge seekers, united by a shared goal: a great team culture and satisfied clients. We're headquartered in Chicago's Ravenswood neighborhood and proud to have been named one of Built In's Best Startups to Work for in Chicago five years running (2022–2026).

THE ROLE

As a BDR at Nextpoint, you'll drive top-of-funnel growth by identifying, engaging, and qualifying prospects for our eDiscovery and litigation management solutions. You'll work closely with Sales, Marketing, and Client Success to build pipeline and spark interest among law firms and corporate legal departments. This is a great entry point into a sales career — BDRs who excel in this role typically advance to Account Executive within 1–2 years, where they manage their own territory and book of business.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Prospecting & Outreach
  • Build and prioritize strategic target account lists within defined territories
  • Execute outbound campaigns via phone, email, and LinkedIn
  • Respond to and qualify inbound marketing leads
  • Research prospects to understand their needs and key decision-makers
Lead Qualification & Pipeline Development
  • Conduct discovery conversations to assess prospect fit and readiness
  • Schedule qualified meetings and demos for Account Executives
  • Keep prospects engaged with consistent, creative follow-up
Collaboration & Execution
  • Partner with Sales and Marketing on outbound campaign design and refinement
  • Work cross-functionally with Client Success on referrals and warm introductions
  • Provide feedback on prospect responses and market trends
Performance & Tools
  • Meet and exceed monthly activity goals for calls, emails, and meetings
  • Leverage Salesforce and sales engagement platforms to track pipeline and activity
  • Continuously refine your approach based on data and feedback

WHAT YOU BRING

  • 1–2 years of experience in sales, business development, or a client-facing role
  • Strong communication skills across phone, email, and video
  • Self-motivated with an entrepreneurial mindset and competitive drive
  • Curiosity about sales and eagerness to learn the legal technology space
  • Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Comfortable with rejection and persistent in follow-up
  • Proficiency in CRM systems and sales engagement tools
  • Bachelor's degree preferred

BENEFITS & PERKS

  • Competitive pay commensurate with experience
  • Flexible hybrid schedule (2–3 days onsite)
  • Comprehensive health coverage — medical (BCBS PPO and HDHP/HSA options), dental and vision (Guardian)
  • Health, Dependent, and Transit FSA
  • Generous PTO, paid holidays, flexible summer hours, quarterly mental health days, and floating holidays
  • Annual professional development stipend
  • Monthly flexible benefit stipend
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Free in-office lunch Tuesday–Thursday
  • And more!
