Job Overview: As a Barista at Main Ground Coffee, you will be the face of our coffee operations, responsible for crafting high quality coffee beverages and ensuring each customer receives excellent service. You will work closely with team members to maintain a clean and organized environment while providing exceptional customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coffee Preparation and Service: Brew and serve coffee, espresso drinks, and specialty beverages. Grind and measure coffee beans to ensure consistency and quality. Operate espresso machines, grinders, blenders, and other coffee making equipment efficiently. Ensuring a consistent quality in both taste and presentation. Guarantee, product excellence for each and every drink.
  • Customer Service: Greet customers warmly and take their orders in a friendly and efficient manner. Provide recommendations based on customer preferences. Address customer concerns or complaints with a positive attitude and resolve issues when necessary. Guarantee each customer interaction ends on a positive note to create customer loyalty.
  • Cash Handling and Register Operation: Accurately handle cash, credit card transactions, and process orders through the POS system. Manage customer tabs and provide correct change or receipts. Upsell products, such as pastries or additional coffee drinks, to enhance the customer experience.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Maintain cleanliness of the coffee bar, including counters, equipment, and floors. Clean and sanitize equipment (espresso machines, grinders, milk frothers) at the start and end of each shift. Follow health and safety guidelines to ensure a clean and safe environment. Maintain and uphold our Jolt checklist system and processes.
  • Team Collaboration and Support: Work with other baristas and staff to ensure smooth operation. Assist in opening and closing procedures, including setting up and breaking down the coffee bar and dining room. Support colleagues with tasks like restocking, cleaning, or prepping for peak hours. Communicating with one another to guarantee a smooth operation, especially during peak hours. Proactive communication is standard.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • Previous Barista/Hospitality Experience: Previous barista experience (preferred but not required), experience working in a coffee shop or similar fast paced food and beverage environment is ideal, but entry level candidates with a passion for coffee can be trained.
  • Customer Service Skills: The ability to interact with customers in a friendly manner and have clear communication with customers and team members.
  • Multitasking and Efficiency: Able to handle multiple tasks at once in a fast paced environment.
  • Work Ethic and Attitude: A friendly, enthusiastic demeanor with a passion for creating great customer experiences.
  • Physicality Requirements: Ability to stand for long periods of time (6-8 hours) and able to lift loads up to 25 pounds.
  • Flexibility: Available to work a flexible schedule with early mornings and weekends
